Conundrum Press

Submission Guidelines

Conundrum Press is currently accepting submissions.

Conundrum publishes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction — both essay and long-form works — primarily from authors who live in the Rocky Mountain region. As we branch out from poetry into other literature, we’re looking for thoughtful, provocative, and lucid writing that tells a compelling story.

General submission guidelines

Manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document, along with a cover letter describing your work’s themes and your publication history, as well as links to any social media (twitter, tumblr, blogs, etc.) you may use.

Manuscripts should be double-spaced with ample margins.

All manuscripts will be accepted as email attachments only, no hard copies, and don’t embed your submission into the body of the email.

Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please inform us if your work has been accepted elsewhere.

If you do not hear back from us after 3 months, feel free to inquire via email. If you do not hear back after 6 months, it is safe to assume your piece has been declined.

Email your submission (as one attachment) to submissions@samizdatgroup.com.

Fiction

Subject matter can vary, but we’re looking for literary novels with universal themes. Though we love fiction from across the board, we don’t publish genre fiction or young adult literature. Please check our blog for details as they emerge.

Poetry

We’re looking for poetry manuscripts of at least 80 pages from poets who have had previous publication experience in literary journals (online/print or both) or other bound collections, including chapbooks. The collection should be thoughtful and polished, with an emphasis on narrative forms.

Nonfiction

We are interested in memoirs that can convey a specific experience or period of time, expressed in literary form. The mastery of the story itself, the quality of the writing, and whether a book can appeal to a broad readership will determine the titles we’ll publish. We also seek focused essay collections.
